After nearly 17 years of long-distance mutual admiration and encircled orbits, kindred spirits Brad E. Rose [Foxy Digitalis, The Jewel Garden, Charlatan, The North Sea, etc.] and Matt LaJoie [Flower Room, L'animaux Tryst, ML Wah, Herbcraft, etc.] have, at last, embarked upon their first ever musical collaboration. As Rose & LaJoie, the duo chart longform trails through the cosmic wilderness, their synths and electric guitar (respectively) as divining rods on the winding path to transcendence. On "A Horizon Purified", an alignment to healing takes the form of emotional catharsis, lifting dense fields and opening channels for stagnant pools to flow freely once more. The B-side's "Remnants From the Sunrise" is a lighter dance between glassy harmonics and bubbly synth tones, a gently reverberating shimmer that permeates the air and synapses in restorative peace. Recording separately in Oklahoma and Maine, trading files online, and sharing mixing duties, the distance is collapsed as the two meet in Now time and space, each offering their unique expression in a state of absolute presence.

"Trails can be found in virtually every part of this vast, strange, mercurial, partly tamed, but still shockingly wild world of ours. Throughout the history of Earth, we have created pathways to guide our journeys, transmit messages, refine complexity, and preserve wisdom. At the same time, trails have shaped our bodies, sculpted our landscapes, and transformed our cultures. In the maze of the modern world, the wisdom of trails is as essential as ever, and with the growth of ever-more labyrinthine technologic networks, it will only become more so. To deftly navigate this world, we will need to understand how we make trails, and how trails make us."

This album makes you feel like a better world is possible and somewhat close at hand. It isn't, clearly, we're stuck in dystopia, but it's so beautiful to dream. Fabio Viola

Hypnotic, cathartic, a rising sun over the wreckage of the night. These electric explorations invite reflection, conjure daydreams. A great unfurling. Admo
